Freja’s first month at Superfly

Wow! What a start to 2022 that was! Although it sounds crazy to me that I started my role at Superfly a month ago now, I can’t actually believe it… So much has happened in the last month, it seems like it could’ve been longer ago! Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you to Nick and Charles for giving me this opportunity.

After covid hitting mid-way through my studies at University, I quickly realised that University definitely wasn’t for me! -I was too eager to get my teeth into something I couldn’t wait to finish my degree… so I didn’t!

Growing up I’ve always been quite a creative person, whether that be in performing arts, music or drawing. The pandemic is what actually gave me the push to start the career I’ve actually always wanted, I’ve just kept under wraps… In lockdown, I started drawing more and more to fill my time and then decided to sell some of these drawings which kept growing, along with my desire to take it seriously! I was frantically browsing job adverts every day and just couldn’t find anything at all appealing! Everything was working nights, factory work, admin etc etc… Just jobs that to me, looked so boring! I was giving up hope on the job front and thought maybe I should just stick to my degree, until I saw Superfly advertise a job. I applied, although having next to no experience and Nick contacted me explaining that he wanted to meet and he may have an opportunity for me. I went in the next week, so nervous because I thought this was pretty much my only opportunity! After a lovely chat with Nick and Charles I was so hopeful to hear back from with positive news. Within a matter of hours Nick called to offer me the job as a digital marketing apprentice and I couldn’t have accepted any quicker!

I won’t lie, I was very nervous for my first day. Going into a fairly small team that sit together day in, day out, I knew they’d be tight-knit. I definitely felt some imposter syndrome walking in on my first day but there was really no need. The team at Superfly welcomed me with open arms, I’ve never felt more myself within a team than I do at Superfly, after only a month! I already feel like a valued member of the team and would consider everyone a friend. What a fantastic place to work! Everyone has been so helpful and patient with me whilst learning new software, new skills and working with clients. I was shocked at how quickly I was given my own clients to work with but so over the moon! I really appreciate the opportunities I’ve had already in such a short time because they’re allowing my skills to evolve daily and also allowing me to create new skills that are so beneficial to this line of work.

Superfly is already a great place to work and I’m excited to get up and go to work and for my future at Superfly.
