Would you wear a track suit to one of your most important potential client meetings? No. Unless you were meeting with the local footy team’s coaching staff that is! Alternatively, would you write down your contact details on a small piece of paper and pass it off as your business card at a networking event? Surely no?
People will argue that your knowledge and personality will always shine through, but sadly this is not always the case. We live in a modern world where you are quickly judged and often dismissed. That’s why we could all use a little bit of help in turning our potential customers into actual customers.
Presentation matters as much online as it does face to face. There is so much competition and research available for everyone who uses the internet, so it’s important that your business is well represented on all platforms.
An example of terrible website presentation…
Apart from the ridiculously cheesy “don’t replace it… Reglaze It!!” headline, this website is literally one of the worst examples of online marketing I’ve ever seen. The whole thing makes me want to reach for the back button and get as far away from a bath tub as possible.
There are a few lessons to be learnt from this particular site though…
- Flashing text and images – These often doesn’t render well in all browsers and people with epilepsy certainly won’t be too pleased.
- Stretched images – Photographs should never be stretched or squashed, it looks scruffy.
- A list of ‘SEO’ links at the bottom of the page – Not only does it look awful, but these kind of spammy SEO tactics are becoming less and less successful.
An example of bad online logos

I see what they’re going for here… but I’m not sure it has the desired effect.
I think we all know what’s wrong here…
A mess of a logo for arguably the biggest event for England this century. Just take a look at the pink shapes and try and work out what they actually are?
Joking aside…
Your website, social media pages, online images etc. are essentially your online shop front. Users will judge your business instantly and subconsciously on this presentation, so it’s crucial that your business keeps on top of the current trends and technology.
We work on the principle that your online marketing should look better than your competitors, with a splash of personality to make you different. There’s a huge amount of great designers and techies that can help you stay on top of the game.
