I’ve been working at Superfly Marketing now for just short of three months and I’m loving every minute! The team have been amazing and have made me feel so welcome since day one.
Prior to Superfly Marketing, I worked within the print packaging industry as a reprographic artworker, amending and rebuilding packaging designs. I started off here as an apprentice after leaving college when I was 17, leaving education to get into the design industry rather than doing A-Levels, as I knew that wasn’t the route for me to take. After just two years I was taken on by the company as a full-time employee! In short, my job was to correct the packaging design in order for it to be print read. This included updating text, amending codes, bleed, adjusting layout/background design etc. Though I enjoyed this job for many years, I always aspired to be working in an industry where I could demonstrate and improve my creative skills. Luckily for me, Superfly came along and gave me the amazing opportunity to be their Graphic Designer.
Before the interview I remember being ridiculously nervous because I really wanted the job! The interview went better than expected which then made me want the job even more than I originally did. Later that afternoon Nick called me up and offered me the job and, as you can imagine, I was over the moon and started work a month later!
So, my job as Graphic Designer so far has entailed creating a range of designs for clients with completely different business aesthetics. This has included creating exhibition stands, business/post cards, brochures, leaflets and graphic content for social media platforms. I’ve also learnt how to create email marketing shots and blogs for our client’s websites. Recently, I did a rebrand for one of our clients and we got to see some new merchandise printed with my redesign of the logo, which was so surreal but so exciting! Whilst I love all the work I do, my favourite project so far has definitely been designing packaging for a potential client specialising in coffee! The brief was to design multiple mock-ups of a new coffee bag product launching in supermarkets across the UK! See below the packaging designs I created throughout the mock-up process.
I absolutely love my job because no day is the same, there’s always a variety of different types of work that need completing and new skills to learn whether it’s rebranding a client’s logo or creating a large-scale display banner! All I can say is I’m so excited to see what the future holds for myself at Superfly and couldn’t be happier!
