Email marketing is one of our favourite marketing tools. It’s easy to do, there’s loads of great online software out there and it’s really cost effective. It allows your business to channel information to your best contacts/clients customers on a regular basis and find out what they’re actually interested in.
Ensure that your lists are good quality. Don’t cut corners and waste money by buying huge lists. Spam emails have given email marketing a bad name over the past few years, and actually has a detrimental effect on your business’s reputation.
Another important aspect is content. This may seem obvious, but how often do you receive emails from businesses that simply promote their own services. It’s so boring and tedious. Combine good quality news stories, hints/tips within your industry and sandwich that with INTERESTING news/offers your business has.
When planning your email marketing strategy think about the following things:
- How are you going to effectively develop your email marketing list?
- How often are you going to send out emails to your mailing list?
- Who is your target market, and what are they most likely to read?
Below is a really great cheat sheet, from the nice people over at Marketo. See what you think!
